Purchase of Own Securities

BRUNNER INVESTMENT TRUST PLC

The Company announces that on 21st October 1999 it re-purchased 750,000
Ordinary 25p Shares, (representing 1.19% of the issued class of capital), at
the price of 395p per Ordinary Share, for cancellation.

Settlement and cancellation of the re-purchased 750,000 Ordinary Shares is due
on 28th October 1999 when the issued share capital of the Trust will fall to
62,059,500 Ordinary 25p Shares.
