Trading Statement
In the first 17 weeks of the current year both group and home shopping turnover
is ahead by 2%. Ladieswear and electrical goods continue to perform well but the
performance of our menswear and footwear ranges is still disappointing. Our
expanded Autumn catalogues, which will feature extended ranges of ladieswear,
mens clothing, footwear and home and leisure products, will be launched later in
the month in conjunction with a refocused marketing campaign to drive new
customer recruitment. Trading conditions remain challenging but, after a slow
start, we are satisfied that the group is making progress in line with
expectations for the year.
