N Brown Group plc ('the Company')

The Company was advised on 30th March 2005 that Lansdowne Partners Limited
Partnership, on behalf of client funds that it manages, now controls 5,483,746
ordinary shares in the Company as a result of a sale of shares on the 22nd March
2005. This shareholding now represents 1.86% of the current issued share capital
of the Company.

As a result of this sale Lansdowne Partners Limited Partnership no longer has a
notifiable interest in the issued share capital of the Company.
