Notification of major interests in shares

N Brown Group plc ('the Company')

The Company was advised on 25th August 2005 that FMR Corp. and its direct and
indirect subsidiaries and Fidelity International Limited (FIL) and its direct
and indirect subsidiaries, both being non-beneficial holders had decreased the
number of ordinary shares held by them in the Company to 38,016,218 ordinary
shares of 10p each. This shareholding now represents less than 12.87% of the
current issued share capital of the Company.
