The company wishes to announce that it became aware on 4 September 2001 that 
Mr J Martin (Chief Executive) and Mr T J Kowalski (Finance Director) technically
became beneficially interested on 30 August 2001 in 7308 ordinary shares of 10p 
each in the company by virtue of the N Brown Group Qualifying Employee Share 
Ownership Trust ('the QUEST') being allotted such shares at £2.725 each, and the
directors being potential beneficiaries under the QUEST.
