             Acquisition of high quality catalogue business

N Brown Group, the Manchester based direct home shopping company, is pleased to
announce the acquisition of the business and assets of House of Bath Ltd for a
gross cash consideration of £1.1m. The business has been acquired free of debt.

The acquisition of this high quality catalogue retailer gives the group access
to approximately one million new customers, and complements the existing
strategy of J D Williams by extending into the household and personal gift
related markets.
