                       BellSouth Schedules Second Quarter
        Earnings Release and Conference Call for           July 26, 2004


Atlanta, Georgia - June 2, 2004 - BellSouth Corporation (NYSE: BLS) will report
second quarter earnings on Monday, July 26, 2004, at 8:00 a.m. (ET).  In
addition, BellSouth will host a conference call with the investment community at
10:00 a.m. (ET).  Participating on the conference call will be BellSouth CFO Ron
