                       BellSouth Schedules Third Quarter
           Earnings Release and Conference Call for October 25, 2004


ATLANTA - BellSouth Corporation (NYSE: BLS) will report third quarter earnings
on Monday, October 25, 2004, at 8:00 a.m. (ET).  In addition, BellSouth will
host a conference call with the investment community at 10:00 a.m. (ET).
Participating on the conference call will be BellSouth CFO Ron Dykes and
Investor Relations Vice President Nancy Davis.

The third quarter earnings press release, BLS Investor News summarizing
highlights of the quarter, and downloadable Microsoft Excel and Adobe PDF
