The company gave an update of its key operational initiatives. Highlights of the presentation included the company's improving position in 2003, its pursuit of regulatory reform, and its operational plans. The operational plans address customer retention, driving revenue growth from long distance and DSL penetration, and managing cost in a competitive telecom market. Cingular Wireless also provided a positive update on customer growth and its operational results. BellSouth provided the following expectations for 2004: • Revenue: flat to low single digit positive growth • DSL: approximately 2.2 million subscribers by the end of 2004 • LD: more than 5 million subscribers by the end of 2004 • Capex: 13 to 15% capex to revenue ratio, excluding Cingular • Operating free cash flow in the range of $4 billion, excluding Cingular "We will continue driving growth by increasing penetration of long distance and DSL services.
