The Board of The British Land Company PLC announces that on 24 July 2002 it
received a notification from Credit Suisse First Boston Equities Limited 
("CSFB") pursuant to sections 198-202 of the Companies Act 1985 stating that, as 
of 23 July 2002, it no longer holds a notifiable interest in the ordinary shares 
of 25p each of the Company.

CSFB is a member of the Credit Suisse First Boston group of companies. Those
group companies which are direct or indirect holding companies of CSFB are each
interested by attribution in any shares which CSFB is interested.
