purchases of the Company's ordinary shares of 25p by Directors of the Company on
22nd August 2003:

N S J Ritblat                      5,142 at 502.938p each
Lord Burns                             5 at 502.938p each



These purchases were in consequence of standing elections to participate in the
Company's Dividend Re-investment Plan, whereby cash dividends are automatically
reinvested in the Company's shares.
