Management Board Changes

British American Tobacco PLC 11 October 2007 For immediate release: Thursday, 11 October 2007 Management Board Appointments Following Nicandro Durante's appointment as Chief Operating Officer from 1 January 2008, on the retirement of Antonio Monteiro de Castro, the Board of British American Tobacco announces that Nicandro will be succeeded as Regional Director, Africa & the Middle East, by Andrew Gray, currently President of Souza Cruz, the Group's Brazilian subsidiary. Andrew, who is Brazilian, joined British American Tobacco 20 years ago and has held a variety of marketing and general management roles in South America, Central America & the Caribbean and Malaysia. Flavio de Andrade is stepping down as Director, Latin American & Caribbean and leaving the Group with immediate effect. He will be replaced by Mark Cobben, previously Managing Director, Germany. Mark, who is Dutch, has 13 years' experience in the Group, having been General Manager in Switzerland, Argentina and Russia before moving to Germany. Commenting on the appointments, Paul Adams, Chief Executive of British American Tobacco, said: "I am delighted to welcome Mark and Andrew to the Management Board and I wish them every success in their new and challenging roles."
