Pursuant to Section 198 of the Companies Act 1985, British American Tobacco
p.l.c. ("the Company") was informed on 9 January 2007 by a letter from Fidelity
International Limited dated 8 January 2007 that, as of that date, Fidelity
International Limited and FMR Corp and their affiliates no longer have a
notifiable interest in the issued ordinary share capital of the Company.
