Directorate Change

British American Tobacco PLC 25 March 2008 Management Board Appointments Following the appointment of Ben Stevens as Finance Director of British American Tobacco p.l.c. - with effect from the Group's AGM on 30 April - David Fell and Jean-Marc Levy will join the Group's Management Board on 1 May, as Regional Directors with responsibility for Eastern Europe and Western Europe respectively. Jean-Marc, who is Swiss, joined British American Tobacco over 14 years ago. His career has covered roles in both Marketing and General Management and he is currently Area Director, Central Europe. David, who is English, has over 18 years' experience in the Group and is currently Area Director, Australasia. His previous roles were also in Marketing and General Management. During 2008 the Group is conducting a review of the composition of its regions and, given the proposed acquisition of Skandinavisk Tobakskompagni, it feels this is the right time to move towards Europe being managed as two separate units. The Group intends to fully reflect the changes resulting from this review, including the separation of Europe into two regions, in terms of both its internal and external reporting from 1 January 2009. Commenting on the appointments, Paul Adams, Chief Executive of British American Tobacco, said: "Ben Stevens has led the European Region extremely well, producing impressive results, especially in terms of global drive brand growth, revenue growth and profit growth. David and Jean-Marc are well placed to carry on this work and I wish them every success in their new roles."
