DIRECTORS' INTERESTS

On 25 November 2004, the Company granted to Mr P.N. Adams, a Director of British
American Tobacco p.l.c., 2,492 options over British American Tobacco p.l.c. 25p
ordinary shares (the "Shares") under the British American Tobacco Sharesave
Scheme (the "Scheme") at an option price of 663p per Share.  The options are
exercisable from 1 January 2010 to 30 June 2010, in accordance with the Rules of
the Scheme.
