DIRECTOR/PDMR SHAREHOLDING



In connection with the Director/PDMR Shareholding announcement made by the
Company on 22 March 2006 (the "Announcement"), due to an administrative error,
the total number of

British American Tobacco p.l.c. 25p ordinary shares (the "Shares") released to
participants in the Deferred Share Bonus Scheme (the "Scheme") on 20 March 2006
was overstated.  The total number of Shares released to participants in the
Scheme was 588,854, instead of 1,616,221 Shares as stated in the Announcement.



As a result of this revision, the independent trustee of the British American
Tobacco Group Employee Trust holds a total of 21,397,091 Shares.  All other
details shown in the Announcement are correct.
