The Company was notified on 8 October 2010 that on 6 October 2010 Mr N R Withington, a person discharging managerial responsibility, acquired 98 ordinary shares of 25p each in British American Tobacco p.l.c. (the "Shares") at a price of 2391.321 pence per Share as a result of the reinvestment of income by his ISA Manager.

Following this transaction, Mr Withington has a total beneficial and family interest in 145,449 Shares (including 31,428 Deferred Shares).
