The Company was notified on 7 November 2007 that on 6 November 2007, Ms
Christine Morin-Postel, a Non-Executive Director and a person discharging
managerial responsibilities, purchased 4,700 British American Tobacco p.l.c.
Ordinary shares ("the Shares") at a price of 1785p per Share.  The Shares are
registered in the name of Ms Morin-Postel.

Following this transaction, Ms Morin-Postel has a total beneficial interest in
4,700 Shares.
