NOTIFICATION OF TRANSACTIONS OF DIRECTORS, PERSONS DISCHARGING MANAGERIAL
RESPONSIBILITY OR CONNECTED PERSONS


Notification made in accordance with Disclosure Rule 3.1.4R(1)(a) of the
Disclosure and Transparency Rules.

The Company was notified on 4 May 2007 by the trustee of the British American
Tobacco International Employee Share Ownership Plan (the "International Plan")
that on 3 May 2007 ordinary shares of 25p each in British American Tobacco
p.l.c. (the "Shares") were purchased for the following person discharging
managerial responsibility (the "Participant") at a price of £15.93 per Share as
a result of the reinvestment of dividends by the trustee in accordance with the
International Plan.

In addition, the Company was notified on 4 May 2007 by the trustee of the
British American Tobacco Employee Share Ownership Plan (the "UK Plan") that on 3
May 2007 ordinary shares of 25p each in British American Tobacco p.l.c. (the "
Shares") were purchased for the following executive directors and other persons
discharging managerial responsibility (together the "Participants") at a price
of £15.991 per Share as a result of the reinvestment of dividends by the trustee
in accordance with the UK Plan.

The number of Shares purchased by each Participant in the UK Plan, together with
their interests following the transaction, are as follows:
