The Company was notified on 3 July 2007 that on 2 July 2007 Mr N R Withington
acquired 162 British American Tobacco p.l.c. 25p Ordinary Shares (the "Shares")
at a price of 1691.5p per Share as a result of the quarterly reinvestment of
income by his ISA Manager.



Following this transaction, Mr Withington has a total beneficial and family
interest in 72,361 Shares (including 31,634 Deferred Shares).
