The Company was notified on 2 October 2007 that on 1 October 2007 Mr N R
Withington acquired 55 British American Tobacco p.l.c. 25p Ordinary Shares (the
"Shares") at a price of 1743p per Share as a result of the quarterly
reinvestment of income by his ISA Manager.

Following this transaction, Mr Withington has a total beneficial and family
interest in 72,468 Shares (including 31,634 Deferred Shares).
