Notification made in accordance with Disclosure Rule 3.1.4R(1)(a) of the
Disclosure Rules sourcebook.



The Company was notified on 2 January 2007 that, on the same day, Mr MCT
Prideaux, a person discharging managerial responsibilities, acquired 3,447
British American Tobacco p.l.c. 25p ordinary shares (the "Shares") following the
exercise of options held under the British American Tobacco Sharesave Scheme, at
an option price of 480p per Share.



Following this transaction, Mr Prideaux has a total beneficial and family
interest in 97,979 Shares (including 35,974 Deferred Shares).
