Appointment of additional Directors

As announced on 25 July 2001, the Board of Merrill Lynch World Mining Trust
plc has appointed Mr Colin Buchan and Mr Gordon Sage as additional non
executive Directors of the Company with effect from 25 July 2001.

Mr Buchan was a director of UBS Warburg Limited until his resignation on 16
July 2001. Mr Sage was a director of Rio Tinto plc until his resignation from
that company earlier this year; he is a director of Railtrack Group plc.

Neither Mr Buchan nor Mr Sage had any interest in the Company's ordinary
shares at the date of their appointment.
