THE THROGMORTON TRUST PLC (the 'Company')

At the Annual General Meeting of the Company held on 25 February 2000
shareholders granted the Company authority to purchase up to 42,430,259
ordinary shares.  The Company has also received permission from the London
Stock Exchange to deal in the Company's ordinary shares during the current
close period.

The Company announces that it has today repurchased 350,000 ordinary shares at
a price of 91.5p per share.  12,048,250 ordinary shares have been purchased to
date under the above authority and the issued share capital following
cancellation of the shares repurchased will be 259,253,592 ordinary shares.

Since 12 November 1999 when the Company first obtained powers to purchase its
own shares 44,546,250 shares have been repurchased.
