Alex Zagoreos, who has been a director of F&C Latin American Investment Trust
PLC (the 'Company') since 1990, will be retiring at the forthcoming Annual
General Meeting to be held in May 2004.

The Company is pleased to announce the appointment of Laurence Whitehead as a
non-executive director of the Company with effect from 3 December 2003. Mr
Whitehead, 59, is Official Fellow in Politics and Senior Fellow of Nuffield
College, Oxford. He has covered the Latin American region for the past twenty
years as Regional Head covering ideas, trends and economic data.
