British Portfolio Trust plc announces that on 24 April 2007 it cancelled, 10,000
Ordinary 1p Shares from Treasury.

Following the cancellation of the 10,000 Ordinary Shares, the total number of
Treasury shares held by the Company will be 4,361,666. The issued share capital
of the Company, less the total number of Ordinary Shares held in Treasury, will
be 39,363,108 Ordinary 1p Shares.
