British Portfolio Trust plc announces that on 26 June 2009 it purchased, for cancellation, 75,000 Ordinary 1p Shares (representing 0.21% of the issued Ordinary Capital), at a price of 99.5p per Ordinary Share.

Settlement of the purchased 75,000 Ordinary Shares is due on 1 July 2009.

Following the purchase and cancellation of the 75,000 Ordinary Shares, the total number of Treasury shares held by the Company will be 3,828,664. The issued share capital of the Company, less the total number of Ordinary Shares held in Treasury, will be 35,535,220 Ordinary 1p Shares.
