British Portfolio Trust plc announces that on 30 July 2009 it purchased, for cancellation, 182,400 Ordinary 1p Shares (representing 0.52% of the issued Ordinary Capital), at a price of 104p per Ordinary Share.

Settlement of the purchased 182,400 Ordinary Shares is due on 4 August 2009.

Following the purchase and cancellation of the 182,400 Ordinary Shares, the total number of Treasury shares held by the Company will be 3,828,664. The issued share capital of the Company, less the total number of Ordinary Shares held in Treasury, will be 35,152,820 Ordinary 1p Shares.
