British Portfolio Trust plc announces that on 2 December 2008 it purchased, for cancellation, 982,080 Ordinary 1p Shares (representing 2.54% of the issued Ordinary Capital), at a price of 90p per Ordinary Share.

Settlement of the purchased 982,080 Ordinary Shares is due on 5 December 2008.

Following the purchase and cancellation of the 982,080 Ordinary Shares, the total number of Treasury shares held by the Company will be 3,828,664. The issued share capital of the Company, less the total number of Ordinary Shares held in Treasury, will be 37,661,220 Ordinary 1p Shares.
