Appointment of an Alternate Director

The Board of Merrill Lynch Commodities Income Investment Trust plc have
appointed Jonathan Ruck Keene (Head of Investment Trusts at the Investment
Managers, BlackRock Investment Management (UK) Limited) as an alternate director
to Dr Graham Birch (non-executive Director of Merrill Lynch Commodities Income
Investment Trust plc and Head of the Natural Resources Fund Management team at
BlackRock Investment Management (UK) Limited).  The appointment is effective
from 23 April 2007.

Mr Ruck Keene holds 14,000 ordinary shares in Merrill Lynch Commodities Income
Investment Trust plc.  There are no other details in relation to the above
appointment which require disclosure under paragraph 9.6.11 of the listing
rules.
