FORscene used in IBC TV News

'Self-service syndication' uses Forbidden's Cloud based tools

Forbidden Technologies, the AIM quoted developer of the market leading Cloud video platform FORscene, is pleased to announce that IBC TV News, the broadcaster for the IBC 2010 exhibition held between 10-14 September, will use FORscene in its self-service syndication workflow.

Available through any web browser, FORscene will give IBC TV the flexibility that is necessary to re-purpose material, both for broadcast and website videos, during and after the exhibition.

A local FORscene Server based at the RAI conference centre will compress and upload, into FORscene, material shot on JVC's GY-HM100 and GY-HM700 cameras used by the IBC TV News teams. Material will also be stored at full resolution on the IBC FORscene Server for high resolution auto-conform publishing.

Participating broadcasters and IBC exhibitors will be able to access library content, provided under editorial control, directly through FORscene, including rushes and daily programme footage. With access to the content, users can edit their individual video footage and publish material for use on their own websites or for broadcast.

Improved search functionality and built-in moderation tools through a range of access levels will enable users to search metadata attached to the material. Using FORscene's editing tools, users will be able to create anything from simple edits to complete web video packages.

Once complete, FORscene's auto-conform process will provide a high resolution MPEG or H.264 file to be used in final broadcast pieces or delivered from exhibitors' websites.

Greg Hirst, Business Development Director of Forbidden Technologies plc, said:

"FORscene's strength in handling metadata and providing easy to use editing tools enables users to access material and choose content based on editorial requirements. It is a pleasure to be able to work with IBC TV News to showcase new workflows and our improved technology."

IBC 2010 runs from the 10th - 14th September. Forbidden will be exhibiting in Hall 7.J15d
