notification on 17 December 1999 of the following share transactions involving
directors or their spouses:-

1.       John Douglas Owen (Director) 

       a. Purchased 10,000 Ordinary Shares in Berry Birch & Noble at
          62.5p per share on 17 December 1999 (from David Birch, Director)

       b. Purchased 5,000 Ordinary Shares in Berry Birch & Noble at 64p
          per share on 17 December 1999 (in the Market).

2.        David John Birch (Director)

          Sold 10,000 Ordinary Shares in Berry Birch & Noble at 62.5p per share
          on 17 December 1999 (to John Owen, Director, as stated above)

3.        Lourdes Birch (wife of David Birch, Director and whose shares are
          registered in annual accounts of Berry Birch & Noble as beneficial    
         shares of David Birch).

          Sold 10,000 Ordinary Shares in Berry Birch & Noble at 62.5p per share
          on 17 December 1999 (sold to a niece of David Birch, therefore, these 
         shares are no longer controlled by David Birch)
