Berkeley Berry Birch PLC 14 October 2004 For Immediate Release 14 October 2004 Berkeley Berry Birch plc Board Changes London, 14 October 2004: Berkeley Berry Birch plc (BBB), the national financial services distribution group, whose shares are traded on the London Stock Exchange, today announces the appointment of a new director to the board. Clifford P Lockyer, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, is delighted to announce the appointment today of Bill Main as Executive Deputy Chairman. Bill Main joins the plc BBB board. Mr Main, aged 60, was until recently, Chief Executive of Scottish Widows Investment Partnership. He retired from this role in December 2003. Mr Main has considerable experience in the Financial Services Sector. During his career with Scottish Widows he held the positions of Group Finance Director for the Scottish Widows Fund and Life Assurance Society, Deputy Chief Executive Officer of Scottish Widows Group before becoming CEO of Scottish Widows Investment Partnership. Mr Main was responsible for the establishment of Scottish Widows Bank. During this period he led the integration of Scottish Widows Investment Management Limited with Hill Samuel Asset Management Ltd and its subsequent development and growth. As Finance Director he led the de-mutualisation project and was responsible for the integration progress with Lloyds TSB Group. Prior to his career with Scottish Widows Mr Main held a variety of senior financial roles including Scottish Equitable Life Assurance Society, and a variety of international banking groups.
