Berkeley Berry Birch PLC 04 September 2002 London Stock Exchange Announcement 4th September 2002 Berkeley Berry Birch plc Retirement of Non Executive Director The Board of Berkeley Berry Birch plc today announces that David Birch, a non executive director, will be retiring with immediate effect. David (65), a founding director of Berry Birch & Noble plc, was due to retire in December 2000 but was asked to remain on the Board to assist with the transition following the creation of Berkeley Berry Birch in January 2002. Sir Jeremy Black, Chairman of Berkeley Berry Birch commented, 'David has played a significant role in developing the company since its formation in 1964. We asked him to remain on for eighteen months beyond normal retirement age whilst the new management team took control of the company. With this process now complete David feels it is an appropriate time to leave the Group. We thank him for his long commitment to the Group and wish him the very best in his retirement.' The Chairman's statement within the Group's preliminary results issued on 29th July 2002 stated that the Board were planning to appoint new non executive directors during the year. This process is now at an advanced stage and the Group anticipates making further announcements on appointments in the near future.
