BOARD APPOINTMENT AT BERKELEY BERRY BIRCH PLC ('THE COMPANY')


The Board of Berkeley Berry Birch Plc announces that Nicholas Davenport, 54, a
Non Executive Director of the Group since January 2003, has today been appointed
as Executive Director and Chief Executive Officer of the Group's Insurance
Division.


Nicholas has over 30 years' experience in all classes of insurance both in
broking and underwriting. He was for some years a Director of the main operating
companies of the Willis Group, and more recently a Director and Head of London
operations of the Greenhill Underwriting Group.


Nicholas Davenport says: 'I am really looking forward to working more closely
with Cliff and the team in further developing the Group's insurance business. We
are working on some very exciting ideas that will radically change the client
service offering in the UK and Europe - details of which will be available
shortly.'


Clifford Lockyer (Chairman and CEO) says: 'I am delighted to be able to make
this announcement. Nick's experience has been invaluable in helping us build our
