                            DIRECTOR'S SHAREHOLDINGS

The company was yesterday informed under the terms of the Bellway plc (1996)
Employee Share Option Scheme. the following director of the company yesterday
exercised options over 20,000 Bellway plc 12.5p ordinary shares as follows:

Immediately thereafter, Mr Stoker sold 16,800 Bellway plc 12.5p ordinary shares
at a price of 1005.5p per share.

In addition, the company was further informed yesterday that 1,800 Bellway plc
12.5p ordinary shares were yesterday transferred from the Executors of the
Estate of John Stoker Deceased to Mr Stoker at nil cost. Furthermore, a further
6,000 Bellway plc 12.5p ordinary shares were transferred from the Executors of
the Estate of John Stoker Deceased to another beneficiary of the Estate.

Following the above transactions, the beneficial shareholding of Mr Stoker in
the ordinary share capital of the company is as follows:

In addition, the total number of share options outstanding in respect Mr Stoker
following the above transactions is as follows:

In addition, Mr Stoker, only in his capacity as one of the Executors of the
Estate of John Stoker Deceased, no longer has a joint beneficial interest in any
Bellway plc 12.5p ordinary shares previously held in the Estate (7,800; 0.007%).

The other interests of the directors remain unchanged.
