PURCHASE OF L'AVION COMPLETED

British Airways has today (Friday 25 July) completed its purchase of French airline L'Avion.  

L'Avion will operate as a subsidiary of British Airways and will become fully integrated with OpenSkies by early 2009.

Notes to editors

• British Airways purchased L'Avion at a cost of £54 million (Euro 68 million) inclusive of £26 million of cash in its business.

• OpenSkies launched services on June 19 this year with daily flights from Paris Orly to New York JFK.

• L'Avion currently operates two daily flights between Paris Orly and Newark.
