New Contract Win

For immediate release 31 October 2000 BATM Advanced Communications Limited Enhancement of Titan Family and New Contract in Uruguay BATM is pleased to announce that it has enhanced the functionality of its Titan T4 and T5 switches using software originally intended only for the T6. The new software allows telecom operators ('telcos') to deploy these switches to provide their customers IP channels of varying bandwidth depending upon the tariff they agree to pay. These features of bandwidth provisioning and dynamic bandwidth allocation are in increasing demand from telcos' customers. BATM is also pleased to announce that it has won its first significant contract from a telco in Latin America. The contract, with an initial value of $850,000, is to provide a telco in Uruguay with T4 routing (layer 3) switches offering variable bandwidth. Shipment will begin in 2000, with the majority being supplied next year. The equipment will be used to provide the switching for a broadband microwave distribution system (LMDS) in Montevideo providing fast voice/data lines for businesses and SOHOs. This contract is also noteworthy as being the first time BATM's switches are to be used for a fixed radio system. Dr Zvi Marom, Chief Executive of BATM, said: 'We are delighted to be extending our reach both geographically and in capability. The Uruguay contract builds on our recent success in adapting the Titan family as switches for mobile IP systems. It is also encouraging to see such early take-up of the new Titan functionality. We believe that our product line will prove attractive for other service providers using wireless transmission, particularly LMDS.'
