Re: Appointment

The Directors of Providence Resources P.l.c. are pleased to announce that at a
meeting of Directors held today Mr. James S. D. McCarthy was appointed an
additional Director of the Company.

Mr. McCarthy is aged 46 and holds a Bachelor Degree in Civil Law, an MBA from
University of Pittsburgh and is a qualified Solicitor.  He is Managing Director
of Corporate Finance Ireland Limited'.
