           COMPLETION OF SALE OF BARRATT USA HOUSEBUILDING OPERATION

'On 30 August 2004, Barratt Developments PLC (Barratt) completed the sale
of Barratt USA Holdings Inc.

Barratt previously advised on 5 August 2004 that it had entered into an
agreement for the sale of Barratt USA Holdings Inc. which owns all of the shares
in the Barratt US housebuilding subsidiary, Barratt American Inc. (Barratt
American), to Barratt Investments Incorporated, an acquisition vehicle in which
certain members of the Barratt American management team are involved.'
