Board changes

A.G.BARR p.l.c., the soft drinks group today announces that Robin Barr (71), has intimated his intention to step down from the role of Chairman at the Company's AGM in May 2009.

Robin has held the position of Chairman for the last 31 years and has been a director of A.G.Barr for 44 years. Robin has agreed to remain on the Board in a non-executive role.

Ronnie Hanna (66) who has served as a non-executive Director on the A.G.Barr Board for the last 5 years will become non-executive Chairman in May. Ronnie, a Chartered Accountant is also currently Chairman of Bowleven, the AIM listed oil and gas exploration company and is Chairman of Glasgow Income Trust.

A.G.Barr is also pleased to announce the appointment of Jonathan Warburton as independent non-executive Director. Jonathan (51) is Chairman of Warburtons Ltd the privately owned branded bakery business.  Jonathan brings with him a wealth of brand and operational experience in the consumer goods sector.

Robin Barr commented:

'Now is the right time for me to step down as Chairman after 31 years in the role - the business is in excellent shape with a strong and stable executive team. I have great confidence in handing over to Ronnie Hanna who will provide the leadership, experience and drive to maintain the positive momentum in the business despite the current difficult economic times.'

Ronnie Hanna commented:

'I look forward to taking up the role of non-executive Chairman of this iconic Scottish Company. I would like to pay tribute to Robin who has overseen the substantial development of the business during his 31 years as Chairman.  I know I will be heading a strong and stable team with significant opportunities to continue to develop the business. I am also delighted Robin has agreed to remain on the Board. I would like to take this opportunity to welcome Jonathan to our Board and we are all looking forward to working with him in the future.'
