REPURCHASE OF SHARES

The Board of Baronsmead VCT 2 plc announces that on 15 August 2001 the Company
purchased for cancellation 18,000 ordinary shares of 10p at a price of 96.00p.

Following this purchase there are now 40,684,102 ordinary shares of 10p in
issue.
