Disclosure of Interests in Shares

A notice has been received from Laxey Partners Ltd reporting that the 3,500,729
ordinary US$0.10 shares in The Baring Emerging Europe Trust PLC that are
beneficially owned by The Value Catalyst Fund now represent, after the recent
share repurchases, 3.48% of the issued share capital of the Company.

A notice was received today from Deutsche Bank AG London advising that Deutsche
Bank AG and its subsidiary companies have a notifiable interest in 5,881,377
ordinary US$0.10 shares in The Baring Emerging Europe Trust PLC, representing
5.85% of the issued share capital of the Company.
