Barclays PLC (the 'Company') announces that on 15 August 2007 it purchased for
cancellation 3,400,000 ordinary shares at a price of 622.0202 pence each. This
purchase was carried out pursuant to the Buy Back Programme, details of which
were announced on 23 July and 2 August 2007. All shares purchased have been
cancelled.
