                    Market Purchase of Company's Own Shares


Notification is given that pursuant to the authority granted at the Annual
General Meeting of the Company held on 20 February 2004 to make market purchases
of the Company's own shares of 25p, a market purchase of 13,117 ordinary shares
in the capital of the Company was made today at a price of 292.0613p per share.


Following this purchase and cancellation there are 122,709,823 shares in issue.
