THE  BANKERS  INVESTMENT  TRUST  PLC  PAYS  FIRST  INTERIM

DIVIDEND FOR THE YEAR ENDING 31 OCTOBER 2000



Following  a meeting of the Board held today, The  Bankers

Investment  Trust PLC declared a first quarterly  dividend

of  1.55p per ordinary share net (1999: 1.49p) in  respect

of  the year ending 31 October 2000 payable on 31 May 2000

to shareholders registered on 2 May 2000.
