                 THIRD INTERIM DIVIDEND OF EURO 0.055 PER SHARE

BANCO SANTANDER CENTRAL HISPANO, S.A informs that, as from 31st January 2000, it
will pay a third interim dividend of EURO 0.055 (Ptas. 9.15123) per share,
charged to 1999 results.

The amount of this dividend is the same as each of the first two interim
dividends paid on 31st July and 30th October 1999, respectively.
