Pursuant to article 82 of the Securities Markets Law, Santander Investment
Bolsa, S.V., S.A., announces that at market close today, July 16, 2007, it has
carried out a private placement of shares of Bolsas y Mercados Espanoles, S.A.
('BME'), for the account of Grupo Santander, among institutional investors.


A total of 2,842,929 shares of BME, representing 3.4% of the share capital of
BME has been placed, at a price of euros 42.90 per share.
