Banco Santander (Brasil), S.A. has sent today to the Brazilian Comissão de Valores Mobiliários the following announcement:

'Banco Santander (Brasil) S.A. announces, in the form and to the effect contemplated in Paragraph 4, Article 157 of Law nº nº 6.404/76 and in Instruction CVM nº 358/02 that it is studying the feasibility and the convenience of launching a primary public offering of shares representing a minority percentage of its share capital. No decision has been made yet, which will depend, among other things, on market conditions. The terms of the offering will be announced, if applicable, pursuant to Instructions CVM 358/02 and 400/03'.
