Balfour Beatty plc ('the Company') received notice from Fidelity Management &
Research Company today that the non-beneficial notifiable interest of Fidelity
International Limited ('FIL') and its direct and indirect subsidiaries in the
ordinary share capital of the Company now comprises 20,835,890 ordinary shares,
representing 4.95% of the issued ordinary share capital of the Company.  The
notifiable interest of FIL also comprises the notifiable interest of Mr Edward
C. Johnson III, principal shareholder of FIL.



Fidelity Management & Research Company have informed us that these shares are
held solely for investment purposes.
